Small, multi-stemmed mallee, to 7 m high. Bark rough, grey at base, to smooth and pale on upper limbs, shredding in strips. Narrow, glossy, lanceolate, to 10 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. Buds occur in groups of up to 11 on distinct stalks with flattened cluster stalks, lightly ribbed cap is rounded or with a flat top and is usually narrower and shorter than the base. Clusters of white flowers. Summer to autumn. Small cup-shaped, 5 mm diameter, with 3 needle-like valves spreading out over the rim when open. Throughout the year.

Occurs in most mainland agricultural districts of SA (absent from the South-East). Extends into WA. Common to mallee areas.
