Description:
Occasionally a multi-stemmed mallee to more commonly occurring single-trunked, rough-barked tree, 5-25 m. Grey, thick, fibrous bark throughout. Lanceolate, 7-15 cm long by 1.5-2.5 cm wide. Stalked buds with conical (sometimes bent) caps, equal to or longer than the base, to 0.7 cm long by 0.3 cm wide, in terminal clusters. White flowers. Late summer to winter (February to August). Small, cylindrical to barrel-shaped, contracted towards the rim, deeply enclosed valves well below the level of the rim, approximately 0.5 cm long by 0.5 cm wide, in clusters at the end of branchlets. Throughout the year.

Natural Distribution:
Occurs in four distinct locations in SA (annual rainfall 550-650 mm) including the Southern Lofty, Northern Lofty, southern Flinders Ranges and the upper South-East. Extends into Qld, NSW and Vic. Common to woodland areas.
