Description:
Dense, bright green to bronze-green, shrub to small cypress-like tree, 3-8 m high. Tiny, reduced to scales, 1-2 mm long, along slender, bright green branchlets. Very small, green flowers, stalkless, in short (3-8 mm long) spikes. Throughout the year. Small, rounded nut, to 5 mm diameter, attached to swollen fruit-like stalk which is succulent, bright red and about twice the size of the actual fruit when ripe. Summer (December to February).

Natural Distribution:
Widely distributed throughout moderate to higher rainfall areas in most agricultural districts of SA (absent from the Murray region). Extends into Qld, NSW, Vic and Tas. Common to woodland areas.
