Small mallees may be almost entirely smooth. Dull, olive green, lanceolate, 5-15 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. Buds with slight longitudinal ribs, groups of up to 11 with conical cap equal to or shorter than base. Clusters of white flowers. Autumn to spring. Cylindrical, conical, tapering towards base, 3-5 valves below the level of the narrow rim, 5 mm diameter. Throughout the year.

Notes:
Species name odorata derived from the Latin 'odoratus' meaning 'having a smell' referring to smell of crushed up leaves. Often associated with Eucalyptus leucoxylon in the wetter areas and E. porosa and E. socialis in the driers areas of the northern agricultural districts of SA.
