Common to temperate forests, woodlands and grasslands in higher rainfall districts of SA. Also occurs in NSW and Vic.

Often seen growing in large numbers on rocky outcrops or along creeks and other uncultivated areas. Recorded as rare in the Yorke Peninsula region.
