Description:
A wiry, summer active, perennial grass which forms a flat tussock up to 10 cm high. Bright green with reddish tips. Summer. Tall seed head is held on red stem. Seed head divides in four sections and has pale, hairy seeds joining onto each other.
Natural Distribution:
Widespread but rare in the northern agricultural districts of SA.
Notes:
Usually only seen along roadsides.
