Description:
Multi-stemmed mallee to small tree, 3-8 m high. A little rough bark near base, to smooth and pale on upper limbs with old bark shredding in strips that often hangs from the branches. Firm, thick, leathery, 5-10 cm long by 15-30 mm wide, pale to glossy green, faint venation, often reddish mid vein and margins. Relatively large, ribbed buds with beaked (pointed) caps shorter than base, groups of up to 7, on flattened cluster stalk. Clusters of white flowers. Variable, winter to summer. Cylindrical to barrel-shaped, smooth to ribbed, relatively large, thick walled, varying in size from 1-1.5 cm diameter. Throughout the year.

Natural Distribution:
Distributed throughout lower rainfall regions on deep sandy soils in all mainland agricultural districts of SA. Extends into WA, NSW and Vic. Common to mallee areas.
