Description:
Medium-sized tree to 20 m high. Dark grey, rough bark, deeply furrowed. Dull, grey-green to green, waxy, approximately 10 cm long by 2 cm wide. Small buds with rounded caps in groups of up to 11, clustered near the end of branches. Groups of white flowers occur in terminal branched clusters. Variable, mainly summer (December to February). Very small, cup-shaped to cylindrical, on slender stalks, 3-5 mm long and wide, with valves well below the level of the thin rim. Throughout the year.

Natural Distribution:
Occurs on infrequently flooded areas of watercourses and swamps in the South-East, Murray region, Northern Lofty and Southern Lofty (eg. Gawler River) and in the far north of the State. Extends into Qld, NSW and Vic.

Lower water requirement and prefers heavier soils in comparison to Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Medium to high tolerance to soil salinity.
