Description:
Robust, medium to tall tree, 20-40 m high. Bark rough near base, then smooth, cream-grey, dappled-coloured. Thin, pendulous, 10-20 cm long by 2 cm wide. Buds with pointed caps on delicate stalks in clusters of up to 12. Groups of small white flowers occur on individual trees in alternate years. Summer (December to February). Small on delicate stalks, 6-8 mm long by 5 mm wide, with protruding valves. Spring to summer.

Natural Distribution:
Distributed along watercourses and swamps in all agricultural districts of SA. Also occurs on higher rainfall ranges and plains of the South-East, Northern Lofty, Southern Lofty and Eyre Peninsula. Extends into all mainland States and Territories. Common to floodplains and woodland areas.
