Description:
Multi-stemmed mallee to small tree, 3-8 m high. Rough, grey bark near base of older mallees, to smooth and pale on upper limbs, with old bark shedding in strips. Thick, dull, grey-green leaves, lanceolate, 6-10 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. Buds occur on distinct stalks with finely ribbed pointed caps that are shorter than the base. Clusters of off-white flowers. Summer to autumn. Cylindrical to cupular fruits, 5-7 mm diameter, smooth to lightly ribbed, on distinct stalks, triangular valves just projecting above rim level (when open). Throughout the year.

Natural Distribution:
Occurs in lower rainfall areas of all mainland agricultural districts of SA. Extends into NSW and Vic. Common to mallee areas.
