Description:
Almost trunkless (, with dense crown of grass-like leaves. Very long, grass-like, triangular in cross section (flat on one side)), bluish-green, to 1.5 m long by 0.5-1 cm wide. Small, white-cream flowers, crowded spirally on an erect cylindrical stalk. Flowering spike often longer than supporting stalk. Spring (October to November). Green to brown (mature), crowded spirally on long erect cylindrical stalk.

Natural Distribution:
Distributed throughout higher rainfall regions in most agricultural districts of SA (absent from Northern Lofty) as two closely related subspecies. Extends into Vic. Common to woodland areas.

Notes:
